Definition: "A dynamic document based upon published standards of practice, comprehensive assessment, data analysis and research which provides an organized concise plan for current and future needs, with associated costs, for individuals who have experienced catastrophic injury or have chronic care needs." Ginny Stegent, RN, CRRN, CDMS, CCM, CLCP is a certified Life Care Planner who develops plans of care for injured clients, outlining their annual and lifetime costs for long-term care over their life. All areas of care are included such as: physician follow-ups, supplies, medications, transportation, therapies, and long-term residential facility costs. This is usually done on catastrophic type injuries and is used by attorneys for settlement or trial purposes. Ms. Stegent is an expert witness on Life Care Planning and her experience spans more than 300 cases including involvement in depositions, mediations and trial settings. She is one of only 290 nationally certified Life Care Planners, and she also has taught in the brain injury section of the graduate course for Life Care Planning through Itelicus and the University of Florida. As tighter restrictions are placed upon qualifying consultants as expert witnesses, it is vital that you are confident that your Life Care Planner has the knowledge, skill, experience, training, and education to provide the line-by-line defensible plan that your client requires.
